Honor Your Father Every Day

Exodus 20:12
“Honor your father.”

How do you celebrate and honor your father? Do you honor your father every day, or just one day a year?

People around the world celebrate father’s day at various times – but is just one day in the year of honoring him ever enough?

Perhaps this year you may want to ignore the commercial hype. Does your dad really need yet another expensive junket? Perhaps it would be better to reflect on what you do every day of the year to show you fulfill the words of Exodus 20:12.

Show him that for you, every day is “Father’s Day”

Proverbs 23:24
The father of a righteous one will surely be joyful; Whoever fathers a wise son will rejoice in him.

Any parent in the world will feel joy in raising a good and righteous child, so imagine the sense of exaltation your heavenly Father receives when he sees this in you. Part of being a spiritual person is obeying His commands – with one of them being to honor your parents. It won’t always be easy, but it’s a part of glorifying Jehovah. Just as accepting the teachings and commands of your dad brings him happiness, the same idea brings joy to Jehovah.

So, how do you honor your father and your heavenly Father in your daily life? Let us know your tips, based on your personal experiences, on how to treat your dad in the comments below!

  1. The recent smear campaign is absurd. I would be taking names (blog sites, et al) and notifying my lawyer of my intent to pursure libel/slander charges. One letter from one lawyer will probably shut them down. Apostates are primarily immature individuals who wish everyone else to be as unhappy as they are. They are easily straightened out with the threat of legal action. I know it is not our nature to go after people but that is the way the world works and sometimes we have to, at least briefly, join the battle in order to live in peace with them. Remember that Jehovah knows who is right in this matter and you will prevail, one way or the other.
