However, meditating on the following Psalms can be of great aid:
Psalm 6:2, 3
Show me favor, O Jehovah, for I am growing weak.
Heal me, O Jehovah, for my bones are shaking.
Yes, I am greatly disturbed,
And I ask you, O Jehovah—how long will it be?
Anyone dwelling in the secret place of the Most High
Will lodge under the shadow of the Almighty.
I will say to Jehovah: “You are my refuge and my stronghold,
My God in whom I trust.”For he will rescue you from the trap of the birdcatcher,
From the destructive pestilence.
With his pinions he will cover you,
And under his wings you will take refuge.
His faithfulness will be a large shield and a protective wall.
Jehovah is my strength and my shield;
In him my heart trusts.
I have received his help, and my heart rejoices,
So I will praise him with my song.Jehovah is a strength for his people;
He is a stronghold, bringing grand salvation to his anointed one.
Save your people, and bless your inheritance.
Shepherd them and carry them in your arms forever.
Whether the illness is short or drawn out over years, the experience is exhausting. The above Psalms offer comfort in the midst of difficult seasons like these because they are the prayers of people who are in distress. The writers know heartache and suffering, and they also know the God who hears their prayers. The Psalms are their heartfelt cries to Jehovah for help, for comfort, for reassurance.
As you read and meditate on these Psalms today, I’m confident you will be reminded of the hope and peace that only God can provide.
