|It’s always good to plan early|
Of course, we don't celebrate the new year holiday. Even still, it's always good to reflect how how our service to Jehovah went over the past 12 months, and see if there are other goals we could set to serve even better. What would you like to accomplish this year as one of Jehovah’s Witnesses? Auxiliary pioneering? Bethel service? International Construction? School for Kingdom Evangelizers? Or maybe to simply start a new Bible study or increase your Bible knowledge? This is as good a time as any to begin the pursuit anew. To help you in this endeavor, map the year out with an inspirational calendar, full of reminders and important verses to read.
Tuesday, April 11, 2017 – The Memorial of the Jesus Christ's Death:
Be sure to mark this in your calendar too! It's the most important day of the year. Once each year in thousands of locations worldwide, we commemorate the death of Jesus. We do so because he commanded his followers: “Keep doing this in remembrance of me.” (Luke 22:19) The next observance will be on Tuesday, April 11, 2017. As we know, this annual celebration corresponds to Nisan 14th in the ancient Jewish calendar. It began as the Jewish Passover. Then in 33 C.E., when Christ and his disciples themselves celebrated it, it become memorial of his sacrifice for us. Click here for more details.
This time of year is a good time to expand our ministry as we reflect on Jehovah’s great love in providing his Son as a ransom. Will you be auxiliary pioneering? Plan ahead to have a full share in the special campaign to invite all to attend the Memorial with us.
A special schedule for the special Memorial Bible reading can be found in a number of places, such as in appendix B12 of the revised New World Translation, the calendar, Examining the Scriptures Daily, and the special theocratic calendars provided by Ministry Ideaz. Why not consider this information as a family?
Starting May – Worldwide Regional Conventions of Jehovah’s Witnesses: “Don’t Give Up”
While the regional convention dates for 2017 have yet to be announced, it’s never too late to start planning. We eagerly anticipate the spiritual banquet in store for us at the 2017 regional convention entitled “Don’t Give Up!” We are always encouraged to be present for all three days to encourage one another to walk in integrity with Jehovah as our shield. Make sure to let your teachers and employers know well ahead of time that the convention is a necessary part of your worship. Do you know of someone in your congregation who could use help in getting to and from the convention? Why not plan to assist? By making your plans now, you can be sure of Jehovah’s blessing on your efforts. A list of all conventions is usually announced on jw.org in January. Don’t forget to order early and have your notebooks and pens ready for the convention. Click here.
Thursday, August 31 – The Last Day of 2016-2017 Service Year:
How has your family done over the past service year? Now is the time to review your schedule and see what adjustments may be needed. Can you take time during your Family Worship evening to discuss your family’s goals and make a schedule for the next service year?
Tuesday, September 1 – First Day of the New Service Year:
Have you made it your goal to start pioneering this year? Today is the day! On your marks, get set... let’s go! Most pioneers have a very full schedule and it can be a struggle to get everything done. Therefore, good personal organization is a must. One of our favorite tools for this is the 2017 Monthly Pocket Calendar. As we all know it is so easy to add things to one’s schedule; thus, those in the full-time service may need to assess matters regularly and make adjustments if needed. Daily Bible reading, personal study, and meditation ought to be part of a pioneer’s schedule and there are handy templates available for all of this in the Monthly Pocket Planner.
Sunday, December 31 – The Last Day of 2017:
Just as the first day of the year is a good one to keep in mind as a fresh start to your service to Jehovah, the last day is when you can reflect on the year and see how good a job you did at achieving your goals. Is your faith stronger than it was on the first day? Were you able to help your Bible students progress? If you were on a schedule to read the New World Translation Bible in one year, did you complete it? Perhaps most importantly, it is on this day that you ask yourself how you can give an even better witness in 2017.
Whatever you hope to accomplish in the coming year, pray that Jehovah grant you the resolve to do so. As the year progresses, we’re sure that there will be lots more special events and surprises in store for us!
Any supplies and materials that you need to help you along the way can be found at Ministry Ideaz.
