The Misadventures of a Busy Family: When Schedules Run Amok

We’ve all been there. One moment you’re confidently juggling work, family, and spiritual activities, and the next, you’re sitting in an empty Kingdom Hall wondering why no one else showed up for the service group what was actually changed for the C.O. visit. Managing a busy family’s schedule is like trying to herd cats—except the cats have extracurricular activities, meeting assignments, and a penchant for mischief.

The Comedy of Calendar Errors

Let me share a couple of stories that might sound amusingly familiar.1

Lost in Translation

Monday, 7:00 AM: My husband rushes into the kitchen, panic-stricken.

“Did you pack my lunch?”

“Why would I? You’re off today,” I reply confidently.

He raises an eyebrow. “Pretty sure my boss expects me at the convention center in an hour.”

“Convention? I thought that was next week!”

It wasnt.

A Tale of Two Appointments

Wednesday, 3:00 PM: I confidently stroll into the dentist’s office with my son, Danilo, only to be met with puzzled looks.

“Mrs. Soria, your appointment isn’t until next Wednesday.”

I glance at Danilo, who’s already making himself comfortable with a magazine.

“Well, since we’re here, any chance you can squeeze us in?”

It wasnt.

The Great Cake Catastrophe

Saturday, 2:00 PM: I’m in the kitchen, surrounded by flour and frosting, putting the finishing touches on a cake for Sister Woods’ surprise baby shower.

My phone buzzes. It’s a text from my friend Lisa: “Where are you? The party started an hour ago!”

Confused, I check the calendar—or rather, the scrap of paper stuck to the fridge with a magnet. The party was today at 1:00 PM, not tomorrow.

When Sticky Notes Just Don’t Stick

After a series of these comedic errors, it became clear that our system—or lack thereof—was failing us. Sticky notes were falling off the fridge, reminders were lost in the sea of notifications on our phones, and important dates were scribbled on the backs of receipts. We needed a better way to keep our lives—and sanity—intact.

Enter the Tiny Heroes: Stickers

One day, while venting to a friend about my scheduling woes, she suggested something surprisingly simple: stickers.

“Stickers?” I asked skeptically.

“Yes! Functional ones that you can place on a calendar to mark important events. It’s visual, fun, and hard to ignore.”

I was intrigued.

Discovering a Solution: The 2025 JW Wall Calendar

That's when I stumbled upon the 2025 JW Wall Calendar from Ministry Ideaz. It wasn't just any calendar—it was a game-changer.

Why This Calendar Was Different
JW Wall calendar

  • Visual Appeal: Each month features breathtaking scenes from countries hosting special conventions in 2025. From the behemian waxwings of Scotland in January to New Zealand's snowy Lake Wanaka in December, it was like a mini-vacation on our wall.
  • Functional Stickers: With over 600 tiny yet mighty stickers, we could easily mark:
    • Theocratic Activities: Meetings, service days, circuit assemblies, and more.
    • Family Events: School functions, doctor’s appointments, anniversaries, and even “Return Library Books” (no more late fees!).
    • Personal Goals: Starting and finishing goals, reminders for personal study, and family worship.
  • Special Convention Highlights: The calendar includes country highlights like population, publisher ratio, convention dates, and locations. It was exciting to keep track of where special conventions were happening and feel connected to our global brotherhood.

How It Transformed Our Lives

Placing the calendar in a central spot in our home, we turned scheduling into a family activity. Every Sunday evening, we’d gather around and place stickers for upcoming events and making sure we haven’t missed any.

A New Kind of Family Time

“Look, Mom! I put a ‘Meeting Assignment’ sticker on Thursday for your talk,” Timmy exclaimed.

“And don't forget our ‘Family Worship’ on Monday,” my husband added, placing the sticker himself.

Preventing Mishaps Before They Happen

One morning, I noticed a “Doctor's Appointment” sticker on Friday.

“Who's this for?” I wondered aloud.

My daughter piped up, “That's for Whisker’s vet appointment!”

Ah, even the cat’s schedule was now in order.
