How to Help Kids Take Convention Lessons to Heart — and Home

Every convention leaves us feeling refreshed — a little bit stronger, a little more determined, and definitely a lot more grateful. But if you’ve ever wondered how to help that spiritual momentum
continue once the final song ends, especially for your kids or teens, you’re not alone.

One challenge many parents quietly face is how to keep younger ones tuned in during the program — and beyond. Sure, we pack snacks, prep their clothes the night before, and maybe even bring colored pens. But how do we really help them absorb and remember the spiritual treasures from the convention? And even better — how do we help them make it their own?

Real talk: If your child has ever spent half of a session turning their convention badge into origami, you're not alone. 😅

From Attendance to Engagement

As Jehovah’s Witnesses, we know that the convention program is a gift — carefully prepared by the faithful and discreet slave to strengthen our faith. So when young ones attend, we don’t just want them to “be there.” We want them to connect. To understand. To feel included.

That’s where helping them engage meaningfully with the program makes all the difference. Whether it’s writing down a goal, reflecting on a powerful talk, or even just recognizing a scripture they’ve heard before — these small acts lay the groundwork for spiritual habits that can last well beyond convention weekend.

📝 Tip: Encourage your child to pick one small takeaway each day — and ask them about it during the ride home.

Organizing Your Theocratic Life: How to Set Meaningful Goals for 2025

As Jehovah’s Witnesses, we’re always looking for ways to make the best use of our time in Jehovah’s service. But with so much to juggle—meetings, ministry, personal study, and family responsibilities—it can feel overwhelming. How can we keep everything balanced while continuing to grow spiritually? Setting achievable spiritual goals is one way to stay focused and productive.

🌟 Obstacles are those frightful things you see when you take your eyes off the goal.

Why Set Spiritual Goals?

Setting goals helps us focus on what matters most and keeps us motivated in our ministry and personal study. The Apostle Paul encourages us to “run in such a way that you may attain it” (1 Corinthians 9:24). Having a goal in mind—whether it’s to auxiliary pioneer, finish a Bible reading schedule, or improve our public speaking skills—can make all the difference.

Prepared for the Unexpected: How to Stay Ready for Emergencies

Reenactment | Photo by Mikhail Nilov

Life is full of unforeseen events, and as Jehovah's Witnesses, we aim to be prepared for any situation. While we trust in Jehovah, we also recognize the importance of taking practical steps to ensure our beliefs are respected during emergencies. Here are some practical ways to stay ready while honoring our commitment to our faith.

Staying Prepared for Emergencies with the DPA Card paired with a JW No Blood Keychain

One crucial step is to prayerfully and carefully fill out your Durable Power of Attorney (DPA) card, also known as the Advance Medical Directive. Baptized publishers can obtain a DPA card for themselves and an Identity Card for their minor children from the literature servant. Carrying the DPA card in your wallet or purse ensures that medical personnel are immediately aware of your healthcare choices, particularly regarding treatments like blood transfusions. Keeping a copy at home in an accessible place is also wise.
